PRESS RELEASE: Now Sweden has its own Fashion House for Shoes!

Stockholm Fashion House for Shoes-Sweden´s new meeting place for the footwear industry – was inaugurated during Stockholm Fashion Week. The Swedish Association of Agents, together with Wasa Kronan, developed the project. 25 companies with high expectations were represented at the well-attended festive inauguration.

“Nacka Strand is the ideal place for a permanent Fashion House for shoes because we arrange The Nordic Shoe and Bag Fair in Nacka Factory, which is directly connected to the new Fashion House for Shoes”, says Helena Waker, Executive Director of The Swedish Association of Agents. It offers many synergies, as there are already several leading fashion companies in the area. There is also an opportunity for both the Fashion House and the Fair to grow.

In February, a record number of companies came together to show their autumn and winter collections to Scandinavian buyers. With 135 tenants and exhibitors and 500 brands The Stockholm Fashion House for Shoes and The Nordic Shoe and Bag Fair combine to form the Nordic countries' largest and most significant meeting place for the shoe business.

Consumer interest in shoes, bags and accessories has risen steadily over the past few years and the shoe business in Sweden has sales of about 12 billion Swedish Crowns a year. Today both prestige brands and chain stores have both shoes and bags in their range.

Leg 2 of the Stockholm Fashion House for Shoes is under design and there is strong interest in renting the interest a permanent showroom in the stylish glass building designed by the high profile architect Nyrén. “We have received requests from companies from the Nordic countries as well as the rest of Europe. We plan to make room for a further fifteen companies, by August this year”, Helena Waker says.

The Stockholm Fashion House for Shoes and The Nordic Shoe and Bag Fair are only open only to the trade.
