REPORT ON THE MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVE IN THE US

On the occasion of the meeting of the IUCAB Legal Working Group in Turin on 23 March 2007, a report was submitted by Mr. Florentino Ramirez on the manufacturers representative in the US. Mr. Ramirez is legal advisor of the North American Member Association MANA and has recently joined as a member of the Legal Working Group.

The report prepared by Mr. Ramirez gives an overview of the legal situation in the US regarding the relationships between manufacturers and their manufacturers representatives. This report will be published in the form of a IUCAB brochure shortly and distributed to all the IUCAB Member Associations.

The first edition of a booklet containing Legal Fact Sheets prepared by the Legal Working Group has been distributed to the Member Associations early this year. Additional Legal Fact Sheets have now been prepared and adopted by the Legal Working Group on the indemnity- and compensation system under article 17 of the Council Directive 1986 and its application in the various Member States of the European Union. A second edition of a IUCAB booklet with these Legal Fact Sheets is scheduled to be published in the second half of 2007.
