OBITUARY MR. GEORGE BEGLINGER
by Secretary-general Mr. J.W.B. Baron van Till:
It is with deepest regret that the Executive Committee of IUCAB has to inform the IUCAB Member Associations of the passing away of Mr. George Beglinger, Secretary of the Swiss Member Association VKA.
George Beglinger was a remarkable personality and a passionate promoter of the commercial agency profession and a firm supporter of the International Union of Commercial Agents and Brokers. For many, many years the Swiss Association VKA was represented in IUCAB by George Beglinger. His contributions to the benefit of IUCAB have been numerous and he will certainly be remembered for the way he always actively participated at the annual meetings of the IUCAB Delegates and National Secretaries thereby adding to the realisation of IUCAB’s aim to protect and promote the common interests of commercial agents worldwide. George Beglinger has also played an important role on a national level as an active Member of the Board of the Swiss Association VKA. The VKA was already established in the year 1909 and one of the founding-fathers of IUCAB. During the 1980’s George Beglinger was one of the leading figures successfully guiding the VKA through a difficult period of its existence. In 1985 VKA became a Member of the Federation of Swiss Importers and Wholesale-Traders (FSIG) and later on a further step for growths of membership was taken by integrating members with have their activities in the field of Services and Consulting.
The Executive Committee of IUCAB expresses its feelings of sympathy to the family of George Beglinger. He will remain in the collective memory of all IUCAB Members as an outstanding personality with great personal charm who never lost sight of the importance of international cooperation between Agents Associations and who was a source of inspiration for the younger generation of commercial agents.
