EU-RUSSIA: EUROCOMMERCE PRIORITIES FOR AMBITIOUS PARTNERSHIP
by Secretary-general Mr. J.W.B. Baron van Till:
EuroCommerce supports negotiations between the EU and Russia on a wide range of trade and economic issues going beyond the capacities of the WTO. In a recent position, European traders insist on the further development of the Common Economic Space (CES) by enhanced mutual recognition and harmonisation of technical standards and regulations, especially regarding certification, customs and border procedures.
The EuroCommerce priorities received a warm welcome from the European Commission, who confirmed to consult the commerce sector closely throughout the negotiating process.
