ANTIDUMPING
by Secretary-general Mr. J.W.B. Baron van Till:
Following the antidumping measures used in recent years, the European Commission has recognized that such measures, used as a they are today, are not adapted to modern global trade. In the consultation process on the Green Paper on Trade Defence Instruments (TDI) launched by the European Commission, EuroCommerce has urged the EU to put in place an ambitious reform of its antidumping system and set out its key priorities:
- Community interest; more weight for the interests of importers, retailers and consumers;
- Predictability and legal certainty; exclusion of goods already ordered or en route from new TDI measures;
- Transparency; less confidentiality throughout procedures, more openness in the decision-making process;
- SME importers; more assistance and better representation in TDI procedures.
